She’s the best
bad idea
you’ve ever had…

Welcome to The Fever Cabaret, a deliciously dark new show featuring original songs and material by award-winning theatre artists Cory Philley, Joel DeStefano, and Melanie Yeats.

Enter a space filled with the seductive strains of a piano, beckoning you to sit at dimly lit tables and engage with the captivating hostess who seems to see through to your deepest desires. The sensuality of her bewitching laugh is matched only by her biting repartee. Somehow though, you want more than anything to have her turn her sharp tongue on you. She begins to sing about her obsession with a tiny-handed, powerful man. Your cheeks flush as you wonder: Is it just me, or is it getting hotter in here?

Join us where the obsessions that consume us come out to play.
When bad feels so, so good.

Cory Philley

Writer, Director

Cory has spent over 30 years in an obsessive relationship with playwriting, directing, performing, and producing theatre. She is taken over by her compulsion to create plays that explore desire, longing, grief, sexuality, anger, vandalism, and all the other healthy pursuits her therapist recommends, Cory has been instrumental in developing a community of experimental theatre, dance, and interdisciplinary artists in the Lower Mainland.

Joel DeStefano

Musical Director, Performer

Joel has been stroking the keys and making sounds both beautiful and terrifying for over 30 years. Whether it’s playing Eagles covers at a wilderness lodge or mixing up really edgy electronic multimedia stuff, he’s always using his finger work to make the magic happen.

Melanie Yeats

Producer, Performer

Melanie has an itch that demands to be scratched.  No matter how hard she tries to stay away, she returns to the arms of the sometimes cruel and fickle lover that is the theatre. Her 20+ year on-again-off-again relationship has seen her consumed by the compulsive need to perform, direct and design for theatre, film, and television. She also engages in the sometimes risky kink of arts administration, but she’s trying real hard not to let this take her to a dark place.
